I'd prefer only a standalone compiler... Windows comes with a perfectly good Notepad and Edit which works fine.

Pelles is based on LCC which I have - I prefer the M$ one since LCC has a huge bloaty RTL. Interesting find though.

I remember there was a command that you could place in your script to make the DOS or command prompt to stay open after the script finished.

...... C++ was not designed to create video games, it was made to create programs, all kinds of programs not just games. I doubt that having a partner would be helpful, all my friends like different kinds of games lol if I had a friend help me make a game you'd have a half RPG for the part I make and half FPS for the part my friend would make. C++ can be used with more than just games but everyones already posted up the tuts that I know of. If your making a good game it'll take much longer than a couple of days ...... also

Advice: Unless your friend is your exact double I wouldn't let him help because you would have two different views in mind of the game that your creating.

Yea that book is really good :).. I have the Fifth Edition. Also a good compiler is GCC ;) Linux FTW. I would say the only thing majorly different about MS and UNIX compilers is the implementation of ASM code.

    Example:

Intel Style ( This is what Microsoft uses )

    MOV EAX,EDX

It's read from right to left meaning copy the contents of EDX to EAX.

    UNIX Style ( GCC , Linux , BSD, Mac OS X - or any UNIX-type machine )

    MOV %EDX,%EAX

It's very specific on what is happening here, it has modulus operators to determine what type of data it is, it is also read from left to right. Copy the contents of EDX to EAX.

Is it possible to expand your library for any compiler? I use Dev-Cpp and I love it I just don't know how advance it really is. I have just started yesterday and I learned exceptionally alot just from a book called "C++ Without Fear". It is really a good beginner book; put c++ in terms anyone can understand. But, like I was saying is there a link and a semi-decent tutorial on how to expand your compiler's library, if so post it here or send it to me in a PM.

    Thank You.
